Hello, all!
I believe that this has crossed our minds before: How can I thank David for his music, for his kindness? Is there anything I can do?
As a big supporter and fan of David Archuleta, there’s always I want to do to just give back for everything I’ve gained from being a fan. I believe everything works both ways. I give when I gain, vice versa.
What’s the best gift a fan could give to David? Charity.
So to cut the story short, from where I want to feed my very hungry spiritual self and how I want us to do something beneficial other than just squealing/fangirling when it comes to David, or only having a gathering only when David’s coming to Singapore, I began to search for organisations who are accepting seasonal volunteers.
It was a couple days later that we found out that David’s going to India for his personal time, I was even more inspired by this man’s humility and compassion.
Finally! We got in contact with the Down Syndrome Association of Singapore (DSA), and we’ve organised a reading session with the children at a community library. Several hundred emails were sent back and forth, discussing possible activities, dates, etc.
Now that’s a pretty long introduction.
On 25 June, David Archuleta’s fans in Singapore (DASG) were at the Bishan Community Library for our first volunteering event.
It’s a two-hour long event, we read, assisted the children in writing, made maracas, sang, and gained something on our own personal level.
The children are the sweetest. They’re so enthusiastic about colouring. Shaking the maracas. One even wanted to sing Elevator on his own, a couple volunteered to go in front and sing and dance. They’re so precious!
We’re still arranging our videos.
For now, we’ll share a couple pictures here on DASG, credits Regina Lee:
We hope to have more volunteering events in the future!
